Here’s a cultural tour you didn’t know existed Here’s a cultural tour you didn’t know existed in Victoria ✨

If you’ve ever wanted to connect more deeply to the land and get a better understanding of First Peoples then I’d highly encourage you to take part in the @wawabiik Taungurung cultural experience and learn about Taungurung aspirations, language, perspectives and cultural values 🌿

Highlights during the experience:

- Hearing Bonnie and Uncle Shane talk about their own experiences and connection to Taungurung Country 💦

- Trying on a traditional possum skin cloak, a personal possession that Taungurung Ancestors each had from birth (these are so cosy and warm)! 🥰

- Bush food tastings on the Taungurung Flora Trail + the delicious morning tea🤤

- Spotting turtles and birds during the Tahbilk wetlands boat cruise🐢

🚤They offer both public tours (monthly) or private group tours which can be booked all year round - this specific tour is the wawa tabilk-tabilk

👉🏼Comment “tahbilk” and I’ll send you more details about this cultural experience!

This is probably my favourite place in a Victoria! This is probably my favourite place in a Victoria! ✨

…And probably why I share it so much on here… I have visited Rubicon Valley Historic Area 9 times now! 🤭

You’ll expect to find trestle bridges, old tramlines, sawmills and aqueducts amongst a beautiful and secluded bushland setting 🌿

You can access the the popular siphon bridge via the 3km circuit walk from the car park but to get to Rubicon Dam wall which overflows into the river (pictured here), it’s approximately another 7km return walk from the Royston Power Station (follow the aqueduct from the big building at the bottom of the hill) OR the loop circuit via the signs for a longer walk! 🥾

Things to note:
🗺️ Just under 2.5 hours from Melbourne CBD
🚗 Park at the junction of Rubicon River Rd & Royston Rd
📵 No phone coverage, so arrive early, pack snacks, water, and wear comfy shoes!
🐾 Dogs are welcome, just keep them leashed and clean up after them!
🗺️Check @alltrails and download the map before you go!

It’s no wonder Yarram is one of Australia’s premier street art destinations with over 25 vibrant murals to find across town by world-renowned street and silo artist Heesco Khosnaran 🖌️

My favourite murals not to miss:

🧰Mechanics Institute building (also lit up at night)!
🦚Lyrebird mural on the rear of Betta Home Living Building
👩‍🍳1970s kitchen mural inside Cafe Aga
🐬Dolphins on the Wynne’s Building
🌊Mural on the Water Tank

This is also the perfect place to stop in at when travelling to Tarra Bulga National Park, Port Albert or when riding the Great Southern Rail Trail 🚴🏻‍♀️
